About LEARN

LEARN is an NGO officially established in Nepal in 2014, though its leaders have been arranging teacher training in schools of Myagdi District (funded by Rotary and QEN) since 2011.  It operates in conjunction with the Ministry of Education under a Memorandum of Understanding, and is affiliated with Social Welfare Council (SWC no: 39089).  It is legally approved as a non-profit organization by the District Administration Office of Kathmandu, Nepal, its registered name being:

"Samriddha Gramin Nepal Ko Lagi Shaikshik Unnayan", meaning "Lifting Education, Advancing Rural Nepal"

LEARN has primary support from Quality Education Nepal Incorporated (Australia) and from Rotary International in the form of Rotary Foundation Global Grant projects.

LEARN is committed to uplifting rural life of Nepali people through transforming education.  Myagdi District, where it operates, is one of the remotest but the most popular tourist destinations in Nepal, in the foothills of Mount Annapurna. LEARN has completed numerous training and refresher programs (see Training Reports), and has provided technical and material support to more than thirty schools of the District.

Vision:     Each child should have access to quality education to uplift the rural life of Nepali people.

Mission: To provide training and support to schools so that the children will enjoy an appropriate learning environment
                and grow to becapable, responsible and influential members of the society.

Goals:

  1. Adopt best practices and ensure students’ active participation in learning
  2. Improve student retention, enrollment and attendances in schools
  3. Improve community involvement in schools
  4. Make schools resourceful
  5. Establish strong school cultures
  6. Develop educational leadership among teachers, head teachers and School Management Committees (SMCs)
