Things have changed since then, particularly with greater road access, but it is still a remote area. A half-hour flight or six hour bus trip from Kathmandu to Pokhara; two hours by bus or taxi to Beni and the end of the pot-holed bitumen. Then two to three hours by four-wheel drive up the Kali Gandaki valley to Ghar Khola and Tatopani, at the centre of the area in which we operate. From there you may continue further up the valley, maybe to Dana, or divert up the mountainsides to villages such as Ghara and Paudwar, reaching elevations up to 2,000 m.
